The owners of Muir Valley charge no admission fee for climbing here. Neither do they charge for any climbing instruction or rock climbing guiding they might perform within Muir Valley. If you are paid for guiding and or instructing a climber or group of climbers, either by the individuals or by others, such as a college club, then for purposes of this section, you are a professional guide. Professional guiding and rock climbing instruction services may be allowed within Muir Valley solely at the discretion its owners, provided that these conditions are met:
Professional Guiding Services Permitted in Muir Valley
- Make it clear to their clients that they are in no way affiliated with Muir Valley, LLC or its owners.
- Use guides and instructors who are professionally trained and currently certified as Top Rope Site Managers, Single Pitch Instructors, or higher ratings by the American Mountain Guide Association. Exceptions may be granted by the owners of Muir Valley for uncertified guides who possess extensive experience guiding rock climbing clients.
- Use guides who hold a First Aid rating of at least “Wilderness First Aid” (WFA).
- Have up-to-date rock climbing guiding liability insurance from carriers that list Muir Valley, LLC and its owners on their insurance policies as “additional insureds.”
- Limit their group sizes to no more than six clients.
- Obtain verbal or written permission from the Muir Valley owners prior to their taking a group of clients into Muir Valley.

Free Guiding Service in Muir Valley
Rick Weber, one of the owners of Muir Valley, will provide rock climbing guiding and instruction within the Valley on an as-time-available basis. There is no charge for this service, however, priority is given to children with special needs, such as the UK Pediatric Oncology Survivors and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Bluegrass.
